چکیده

Due to their inherent features, Mobile AdHoc Networks have proven their efficiency to exchange data between mobile nodes. The main issue in this type of a network is the delivery of data to a destination. Unfortunately, the mobility of nodes and the disturbances of the propagation channel lead to the increase of the loss rate, which undermines routing performances. To address this issue, routing protocols use link quality estimators as a metric. However, current estimators have been designed for static wireless sensor networks and are not suitable in case of mobility. In order to overcome this issue, a novel metric called Fast ETX is suggested, which gives a reliable and accurate link quality assessment. It is setup by four estimators which assess and predict the link state. In addition, we design a framework to integrate this multi-estimator metric into a routing protocol. Reliable link quality estimation in low-power wireless networks and its impact on tree-routing

Radio link quality estimation is essential for protocols and mechanisms such as routing, mobility management and localization, particularly for low-power wireless networks such as wireless sensor networks. Commodity Link Quality Estimators (LQEs), e.g. PRR, RNP, ETX, four-bit and RSSI, can only provide a partial characterization of links as they ignore several link properties such as channel qu...

Optimized link state routing for quality-of-service provisioning: implementation, measurement, and performance evaluation

This paper provides a measurement-based performance evaluation of the Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol. Two versions of OLSR, OLSR-ETX and OLSR-ETT, are implemented and evaluated on a mesh network that we built from off-the-shelf commercial components and deployed within our department building. OLSR-ETX uses the Expected Transmission Count (ETX) metric, whereas OLSR-ETT uses the Ex...

F-LQE: A Fuzzy Link Quality Estimator for Wireless Sensor Networks

Radio Link Quality Estimation (LQE) is a fundamental building block for Wireless Sensor Networks, namely for a reliable deployment, resource management and routing. Existing LQEs (e.g. PRR, ETX, Fourbit, and LQI ) are based on a single link property, thus leading to inaccurate estimation. In this paper, we propose F-LQE, that estimates link quality on the basis of four link quality properties: ...

Improving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

An ETX Based Positioning System for Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks

RF-based localization has gained popularity because it offers low-cost positioning solution for ad-hoc networks. The Received Signal Strength (RSS) measured by a node has traditionally been used as a parameter to estimate location. However, RSS is not made readily available in the ad-hoc routing protocols like some other link quality indication parameter, e.g., Expected Transmission Count (ETX)...
